Theives break into the Ubuntu Linux Centre in Bamenda and went away with material worth about 4. 000.000 ( four million francs).
Investigations are still going on. This has halted activities for a while. Some theory classes started last week more details later

Mr. Chi David .A of Linux Friends in Bamenda, North West Region visited Turkey, Eastern Mediterranean University(EMU) in North Cyprus, to complete a course in Computer Networking and also to establish exchange, partnership and cooperation with Cameroon Universities.
While in North Cyprus he was appointed Liaison Officer of Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) in Cameroon. More details later on

Mr. Chi David Afuangang is a member of the Linux Users Group in Bamenda and author of the book titled ‘’ Computer World’’, A deathblow to Computer Illiteracy in Africa. This project in Cameroon with headquarters in Jakiri, Bui Division is focused on promoting ICT in the rural areas in Cameroon with Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) through the teaching of pupils and teachers in the nursery and primary schools.
Their major problems faced in the rural areas is electricity supply and lack of computer in most of the primary schools in remote areas.
Solar Energy and low power computers can help this project succeed in the rural areas in Cameroon.

SOFTWARE FREEDOM DAY 2010
Software Freedom Day (SFD) was celebrated in BAMENDA on the 18th of September 2010 at the UBUNTU Linux College Bamenda premises. The following activities were carried out, installation of UBUNTU on the laptop of a participant from Kumbo, presentations were made on the advantages of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) by Mr. Chi David and Mami Ubuntu gave a welcome speech with a KUBUNTU special gift. The celebration ended with a demonstration at a Cyber Café in Cow Street Nkwen Bamenda. See photos.
