SOLIDARITY PROJECT FOR CAMEROON
REPORT OF MEETING 26 LUG BAMENDA
1-12- 2007
The meeting started with an openning prayer by Mr Eric, followed by self introduction, and reading of the report of meeting 25. It was announced that the SOFTWARE FREEDOM INTERNATIONAL (SFI) have recognize the Linux Users Group in Bamenda as one of the dynamic groups around the world following the submission of the Software Freedom Best Event Report. This was goodnews as members of the group were very happy. A certificate will be awarded to the group for their excellent performance during the SFD.

Some projects for income generating were not mentioned in the report as a reminder to Mr. Michel. These projects were:-

The Cyber cafe projects

distribution of computers to schools for teaching and training.

The call box projects with cell phones.
It was clarified that the computers and the cell phones are on the way coming and that the group should intensify training and empower members with the available resources already in hand.
Members raise a problem of disorganization in the group it was noticed that things were not done in an orderly manner and the issue of a structure was highly recommended to be put in place.
The following resolutions were taken:-
That a structure should be put in place for the group in Bamenda. It was strongly accepted that the Linux Users Group in Cameroon cannot function without a structure.

Agreements between external organizations must be sanctioned by the group.
Movement or transfer of members must be made known to the group before departure so that a sent off or good bye ceremony can be plan for such a member who is either transferred or going to another group.
Members should pay their training support fee of 2,000frs on or before the last meeting in December 2007
External persons or would be members of the group will pay 5,000frs as participation fee for training in the group as from now hence forth this will help to support for electricity bills and rents.
Tutorial material should be provided to members to learn at home e.g HTML notes downloaded from the internet, SW Moodle course etc
Training classes will take place only from 4.00pm to 8.00pm from Monday to Fridays at moment until a receptionist is employed and Saturday will be for evaluation of the weekly activities.
Unanimous agreement on issues should be adopted, some members of the group should not act or take decisions on their own.
Cleanliness of the centre on a daily basis was emphasize and the Linux Group members were authorized to make a copy of the keys for the main door.
Chanceline called from Limbe and announced that there will be a meeting on Tuesday at 4.00pm in Limbe more details about the meeting was not given.
A seminar on medicinal plants to take place in Bamenda on 17th of December 2007 Mr Michel to be invited.
Teaching in BUST to be examine next week. A class on HTML was conducted and the meeting ended with the singing of the Ubuntu Solidarity Song.
