LINUX USERS GROUP BAMENDA
REPORT OF MEETING 25
This report will cover the following issues;-

Mr. Michel's arrival in Cameroon.

Limbe Linux Users Group created.

Bamenda University of Science and Technology
welcomes Mr Michel.
-
Mr. Michel's goals and objectives in Cameroon for
six months.

Mr Michel arrived Cameroon on Monday the 19th of
November at 6.30am. Some members of the LUG Bamenda
i.e Miss Chanceline, Mr Chi David and Princewill were
present at the Douala International airport that
morning to welcome him.

Mr Michel and the members of LUG Bamenda went to
Limbe to examine the house which will accommodate the
group in Limbe. This house was still under
construction and will be completed in a week's time.
Mr Michel and the team from Bamenda also visited two
computer centres in Limbe i.e Baapsystems and Lukmef
all located in Limbe central town. These centres were
encouraged to cooperate in the setting up of the LUG
in Limbe.

Mr. Michel and the team travel to Bamenda by night
and arrive Tuesday 20th in the morning. While in
Bamenda he visited the LTSP Cyber Cafe at the Baptist
Centre Nwen and also went to OCOSO to examine the
computers which were said to be having network
problems.

A meeting was held at OCOSO to examine the problems of
the LUGB and also to plan for the visit to Bamenda
University of Science and Technology (BUST). Members
of the LUGB presented some problems as follows:-
Lack of technical knowledge in networking of
computers with LTSP.

File management in Linux.

Installation of Edubuntu and hardisk partitioning.
-
How to use Live CD like Puppy, Knoppix, DYNE etc.

Webpage creation advance technics.
-
Troubleshooting of computers.
-
Linux commands usage.
A visit to the Bamenda University of Science and
Technology was made where the LUGB members were
teaching information technology. Mr Michel gave a
presentation about open source software and other
issues concerning information technology. Miss
Chanceline introduce the group and its activities and
the Ubuntu Solidarity song was sang by members of
LUGB. Mr Kamga gave a lecture on Hardware. Members of
LUGB and Mr Michel met the administration of BUST and
the following decisions were taken:
