LINUX USER GROUP (LUG) BAMENDA, NWP CAMEROON


MEETING 22

The meeting started with an opening prayer by Mrs Sayah Frida. There was self introduction followed by matters arising from the last meeting. On matters arising from the last meeting the following were raised.

  • A radio announcement for publicity was agreed to be made which was not done because of lack of money.
  • The issue of school fees for members and the public was clarified and emphasizes were made for members to pay their contributions for training. 
  • The report of the week was presented by Mr John Paul who is the receptionist at the centre, it was not very good because many teachers did not turn up as per the timetable. Also the number of students agreed to be brought by each member of the group was re-emphasized.
  • Some money was used to help teachers who did not have taxifare to return after teaching during the week which amounted to 4,000frs. It was agreed that the issue of taxifare to teachers be suspended so that everybody can sacrifice for the begining.
  • Miss Chanceline said some phones have been proposed to be sent to the group through DHL mail system for business opportunity for the group. Members were very happy to hear this news.
  • Mr Nkainmbi Eric who is a seasoned accountant and a member of the group was assigned to monitor the financial transactions of the groups and work in collaboration with Sayah Friday who is incharge of petty cash and Mr John Paul who runs the daily activities at the secretariat.
  • A question was asked what was the relationship between OCOSO and LUG Bamenda, Mr Maurice explained and Mr Chi David also clarified members how it all came that LUG Bamenda was housed under OCOSO. It was agreed that a meeting will be held inorder to make things very clear to members as far as the relationship is concern. The issue of rents and electricity bills payment was also raised and it was said that LUG Bamenda will have it own share of these expenses to be discussed in a meeting.
  • The partnership agreement with Bamenda University of Science and Technology was also examined, the following members were called upon to have a meeting and examine this partnership issue. Mr Maurice, Miss Chanceline, Mr Chi David Mr Nkiambi Eric , Mr Tifang Peter and Mr Fotang Micheal were selected. A meeting was plan to hold on wednesday 7 of November 2007 at 4.00pm
  • It was reported that Mr Tifang Peter's wife was sick and admited in the hospital, members went there immediately after the meeting to visit and prayed with her. 
  • The meeting ended with serious singing of the UBUNTU SOLIDARITY SONG, some members stayed behind to practice HTML
