MEETING 16

The meeting started late at about 1.30pm with opening prayer by Sayah Frida. The report of the Software Freedom Day was read and some corrections made. Members were referred to visit the HOMEPAGE for more details of the SFD with photographs.

Each member present gave his positive and negative points about the SFD celebration as follows:-

  1. Miss Rose Lum, said the occasion started late as per the programme and that serious dicipline measures should be taken in the group.
  2. Miss Chanceline also talk of non respect of time at the start, members should be more serious and committed,equally she emphazize on quick reporting after an event and that the representative from Kumbo LUG gave a quick report about the event before the LUG Bamend which to her was a weakness on the group. Chanceline promised some new members who came for CD's that the group is still to burn them and distribution.
  3. Sayah Frida, said she was afraid that food and drinks will not be sufficient but it all ended well, and she was happy and that it was a success.
  4. Mr Chi David said he cannot say anything negative because this was the first event that the group has handled, also the issue of non respect of time is a normal Africa tradition,and appreciated all members who co-operated so well for the success of this day and that next year will be better since the SFI have already promised to support the group.
  5. Mr. Hanson emphazise on the issue of leadership and a structure for the group, and that a group cannot function well when there is no structure.

Members had a look at the SFD photographs on the labtop computers and were very excited about them. There was a class on HTML given by Chanceline ,Mr Chi David and Chanceline gave a detail report on how money was spent during the software freedom day celebration and a balance of 6.075frs was left. A more detail report of all financial transactions was agreed to be published when Mr Ndong Isaac clarifies the group on the amount he personally spent in Yaounde to transport material to Bamenda.

The meeting ended with more emphasizes on the updating of the homepage by all members taking part, Chanceline said the next update will not be done by her alone she invited Awa Rose Lum, Mr Chi David and Sayah Frida to be fully involved when the HOMEPAGE is to be updated. Chanceline also made mentioned of a mail sent by Mr Michel on how to update the homepage when changes have been made, Schools have just re-opened and Mr Beukam Maurice said he will be very busy this time.
