LINUX USER GROUP (LUG) BAMENDA, NWP CAMEROON MEETING 15 REPORT ON THE CELEBRATION OF SOFTWARE FREEDOM DAY 15TH OF SEPTEMBER 2007The celebration started at 8.00am with the assembly of invitees and group members at OCOSO. This was followed by match pass from T-Junction to City Chemist roundabout along the Commercial Avenue in Bamenda town. Motorbike riders join group members for this match and it was very interesting. Immediately after the match pass invitees and group members assembled at OCOSO Head Office. There was self introduction and some animation. Many students from Paul's Computer Institute attended this occasion. Ngainku Chanceline gave the welcome address which was a key note speech for this ceremony. Followed was the introduction of the Chairperson of the occasion in the person of Mr Emmanuel Fonyuy the leader of the Linux Users Group in Kumbo, then the Master of ceremony Mr Chi David was also introduced. The ceremony actually kickoff at this point and started with the welcome of invited guest. The LUG Bamenda sang a special song titled ''solidarity'' . Mr Emmanuel and Mr Fotang Micheal gave a talk on what is FOSS and there were many questions from the audience which they answered very well. There was a debate on the topic ``IS LINUX GOOD FOR YOU?'' after the jury summarized the points of the group FOR and AGAINST Linux being good for Africa, the Linux group won the debate by 8 points to 6. There was a sketch presented by members of the LUG Bamenda on the title ''A computer Iliterate'', this was followed by competitions, i.e, the Sugar Race, Eating, and Typing prizes were awarded to the winners of these competitions. There was also the award of membership forms to some LUG Bamenda members. The ceremony ended with some refreshments and dancing. Attached to this report is the authorization for the match pass from the Divisional Officer for Mezam Central Sub-Division. This permitted the group to conduct the match pass along the Commercial Avenue in Bamenda. Names of those who made some contribution for the celabration
