LINUX USER GROUP (LUG) BAMENDA, NWP CAMEROON
MEETING 13SEPTEMBER 1- 2007, TIME: 1.00PM TO 5.00PM
LINUX USERS MEETING OF 1ST OF SEPTEMBER 2007
The meeting started 1.00pm with opening prayer by Sayah Frida,there was self introduction followed by the reading of the minutes of the last meeting. The meeting of first September was more focus on THE SOFTWARE FREEDOM DAY and the installation of computers. On matters arising from report of last meeting were the following:-
Distribution of invitations and appeal letters, members collected invitations and letters of appeal for support. Places were appeal letters Could be handed were discussed e.g International NGO’s, Principals and Proprietors of schools, Big Businessmen in town etc The radio quiz was accepted to be a very simple question e.g Name two operating systems? The programme for the SFD was also discussed and some changes made. The programs will begin on the 14th of September with some preparation and planning.
The was also the installation of computer which was carried out by Mr Fotang Micheal who brought a hube this exercise will continue next meeting.Some emails from Mr Michel were read to all members, some were technical instructions and the E-learning course for HTML etc It was reported that the LUG in Kumbo may join the LUG Bamenda for the SFD celebration, some contacts were made.
The collection points for answers for Radio Quiz was agreed to be the Baptist Centre Bookshop and OCOSO Office in town.Mr Michel called Sayah Frida during the meeting and talk with her,he also talked with Mr Chi David.Chanceline gave an amount of 30,000frs as support for the SFD from Mr Michel. Some members made their contributions during the meeting a detail financial report of all contributions with the members names will be published on our homepage next meeting.
Also the names of those members who contributed to transport the material from Yaounde to Bamenda will also be published on our Homepage next week.The meeting ended with installation of the HOMEPAGE on the server and members were asked to write their Bamenda info news. Some members stayed and examine Open Office, KDE desktop and how to change from one desktop to another. They also examine the DEBIAN O/S compared with EDUBUNTU.
