The meeting started with opening prayer by Miss Unity Mengwi followed by self introduction. Miss Ngainku Chanceline read the report of last meeting. Matters arising from the report were the following:
Presentation of sample invitation, appeal letter for support on SFD and membership cards. Miss Rose Lum and Mr. Chi had produced samples of these documents and they were presented to the group members and some corrections were done for finally printing. We agree that each member will distribute atleast 10 invitations and some appeal letters for the SFD.
We agreed that Saturday 30th of August 2007 should be the last day to conclude on activities of the SFD. Mr. Maurice suggested that what ever amount that the group will raise or contribute even if it is 10,000frs we should use it for that day, he said the issue is not having many people to come but we must do something on that day with what is available.
It was wondered why the two servers and two clients computers which Mr Michel had asked to be installed, were not there. Mr Chi thought the group should conclude together whether to look for another place or whether to install the computers at OCOSO. Members of the group requested an answer from the proprietor of OCOSO, Mr Tifang Peter, who is also a member of Lug-Bamenda. Mr Tifang Peter spoke positively and said that he is willing to host the LUG at OCOSO which is a Consumer's Protection Organisation and the objectives of the LUG fall in line with the organisation's objectives of promoting new products or technology in its marketing department. Mr Tifang further said he is a member of the group and has attended 8 meeting and that the meetings have been holding at OCOSO and there have been no problem so far.
It was agreed that we install one server and three clients and not two servers and two clients. This was suggested by Mr Micheal Fotang who also offered to do the networking and teach members on network technology. He promised to bring along a hub. This exercise was agreed to take place within the week before the next meeting.
The course on HTML continued and Mr Maurice gave a lesson on how to ANCHOR or LINK PAGES. It was an interesting class because Miss Rose Lum a female member who has attended three meetings created a link between her first homepage and the second homepage.
In other matters, the issues of Bamenda Info came up and members wrote on things that happened within the week in Bamenda, to be published on our homepage. It was agreed that this be done every week. Below are some of these news items by some members.
I’ve been in Bamenda for 7 years now and the insecurity is growing each year. But what is abit strange is that this situation is worst during the month of August and December. Perharps because at this moment we have crops of maize all round and thieves can easily hide in them. Those thieves are just small boys in our quarters for example this night in Ndamukong Street near the Bridge Below Foncha Street. Somebody tried to enter in a shop and as the owner was inside the thieves ask him to sent to them four bottles of beers. thieves are picking irons, food and some times killing for those small things, four men killed a man for forty thousand francs. May God help us at Ndamukong Street.
